Mario Dellavedova (Legnano, 1958) lives in Taxco, Mexico. He holds a degree in architecture; his works, which are subtly ironic, question the artist’s role and the language of art. The use of puns and metaphors brings his work back to the Conceptual Art sphere, contrasting deliberately with the sometimes handmade nature of the pieces produced or used and the simplicity of their combination. He held his first solo exhibition in 1984 at the Rocca di Angera (Varese); in 1987 he exhibited at Corrado Levi's studio in Milan, in 1992 at the Gian Enzo Sperone gallery in Rome, and in 1993 at the New York branch of the same gallery. To date his work has been presented in international museums and exhibitions, including the Biennale di Venezia; the National Gallery and Museum MACRO in Rome; Museo Pecci in Prato; PAC Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea in Milan; Bienal de Valencia; Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul; Museum of Contemporary Art in Shanghai; Museo de las Artes in Guadalajara; and MoMA PS1 in New York.
